Anxiety is a fear of something related to the future. The more you can be just here, just now, the less you will feel fearful of future events. So try this little exercise: look around you, where are you right now? What do you see? What can you feel about just being in the moment? Take a few deep breaths, focus on only one thing. Bring yourself into the present moment. Focus on just one item that is near you. Notice the shape and size. What else do you notice about IT, not memories, but just the item itself. Allow yourself to be just in the moment for a little longer. Take a few more deep breaths and allow the stress to leave your mind, just for a few moments, just be present where you are. Take one more deep breath. Here is another exercise: Have a drink of water and drink it very slowly and just be focused on the water, what it looks like, what it feels like, one more sip. And be in the moment. And now feel yourself where you are, are you sitting or standing? Where are you and what can you feel around you? Your clothes, a chair? What does your body feel like where it is? Another deep breath and Now,focus on your feet and hands feel where they are and how they feel. Breathe in and out again slowly. Allow yourself to be in the moment for at least a little longer. Take a few more deep breaths. Allow yourself to let go of the tension with each exhale.
