I could post more on automatic thoughts and how they affect us, but I want to pause for a moment and ask you to think of a time when you did not think you could move forward, but you did. Always the automatic thoughts filled with guilt, shame and blame move in and tell us it is not possible to move on, that failure will be befall us. You may find that you moved through difficult places in your life and that you grew through the pain. You were able to move on and you became a better and stronger person for it. Maybe it is life's way of teaching us, similarly how we teach children. The children may not understand that the difficulty they are experiencing is helping them to learn about life. This learning never stops and it is often painful to work on ourselves. We don't like pain, but it can force us to grow and move forward. In thinking about the new year, how do you see yourself moving, growing and going forward?
